Moradia Baleia Lisbon Coast Villa

Moradia Baleia is our family holiday home located in a small village, a few minutes south of Ericeira on the magnificent Lisbon coast. The area is known for its fantastic fresh seafood and superb surfing beaches. Within easy reach of Ericeira's charming traditional fishing town centre which offers a large choice of excellent restaurants, the house is just over two kilometres to the nearest beaches (Sao Juliao and Foz do Lizandro), as well as the Sintra-Cascais National Park, 10 minutes from Mafra with its beautiful monasterial palace and within easy access of over 20 clean sandy beaches to suit all tastes. It's an easy 30-minute drive from Lisbon city and airport, 15 minutes from the enclosed wildlife reserve (Tapada Nacional de Mafra), and 20 minutes from Sintra, a UNESCO World heritage site set in the mountains.

The villa is a large (450 m2), fully renovated traditional house sitting in its own well-maintained private walled and beautifully landscaped garden, including a heated 10m x 5m swimming pool.  To the front it has beautiful views over the Lizandro valley, looking on to the Mafra National Palace.

The house is ideal for two or three families sharing, sleeping up to 12 people in four ground-floor double / twin bedrooms (2 with en-suites) and also has two double sofa beds in the upstairs cinema room which we use as overflow accommodation for kids, as well as extra mattresses. You have everything you need for either a chilled, peaceful holiday with good food and drink, or an action-packed adventure on land and water. Or, as we like it, a bit of both.

Fully equipped for 12 to dine comfortably either indoors or out on a large covered terrace, there is also outdoor seating on the south-facing upstairs terrace, around the pool or in the shade of the ground-level outdoor lounge.  We also have a traditional wood-fired barbecue area.

Plenty of activities in the house, including pool table, table tennis, cinema room, wii, board games, arts and crafts and toys we have accumulated for our own boys (now 15 and 17) - boogie boards, wet suits, tennis rackets, boules (perfect on the front lawn), croquet set, beach cricket set, swingball, mountain bikes, inflatables, SUPs. Close to the house there are premier golf courses, surf centres, tennis and padel courts, hiking and mountain biking trails, yoga studios, SUP classes, horse riding, skateboard parks, mini golf and much more.

We can arrange for yoga instruction at the house if you want to do a mini retreat.

There are grocery stores, bars and restaurants within walking distance of the house but it is better to have a car to get you to bigger and better amenities which are about a 10-minute drive away.
